2014 Georgia Regional Cooperative Research Grant Program

CRDF Global and the Georgian Research and Development Foundation (GRDF) are pleased to announce the 2014 Georgia Regional Cooperative Research Grant Program. Funding for this program has been provided by the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) under Fundamental Research Award #HDTRA1-11-1-0061 to CRDF Global.

This program will support high-quality innovative research by establishing sustainable collaboration between researchers in Georgia and the surrounding region. It will bring scientists from Georgia together with scientists from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Turkey, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine or Uzbekistan for collaborative research in an area of mutual interest and regional importance. Collaborators from other countries may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

This program will provide two awards of up to $200,000 each for up to two years of support for teams of Georgian scientists and their regional partners to conduct high-quality, innovative biological research that meets the following criteria:

· Advances the objectives of DTRA’s Cooperative Biological Engagement Program as described in the program announcement

· Falls within the CBEP research priorities as described in the program announcement

· Falls within an area of biological research that addresses an issue of national concern in Georgia
